How to choose
- Almost all shopping happens along one pedestrian axis: Main Street between Casemates Square and the southern end of the old town.
- Perfume, spirits, tobacco and electronics are the traditional reasons people shop here, but compare with prices at home before assuming a bargain.
- Shops keep British-style hours: many close on Sunday and on UK bank holidays, and earlier than Spanish shops on weekdays.
- Leave shopping for the end of the day so you are not carrying bags up the Rock, and keep your receipts for the return crossing.
