Rainy day route
Mostly indoor and sheltered stops for wet weather.
- Start
- Gibraltar Museum
- End
- Casemates Square or Main Street
- Difficulty
- Easy — short transfers between covered sites
- Best for
- Visitors caught by Levante rain, off-season day-trippers, history fans
Gibraltar gets surprise downpours, especially in November and March when Levante and Atlantic systems collide. Luckily, half of the Rock's best sights are underground or indoors. This route keeps you mostly dry, mixes culture and drama, and slots into a single 4–6 hour window.
Bring a waterproof jacket — umbrellas are useless in the wind funnel of Main Street.

Practical warnings
- Cable car closes in strong Levante; have a taxi backup planned to reach the cave.
- Some pavements get slippery — wear shoes with grip.
Good to know
- Most museums and tunnels run on a single Nature Reserve ticket.
- Pub kitchens often serve all afternoon — useful when you're sheltering.
- The cathedrals and the mosque are also free shelters with cultural value.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying the cable car ticket before checking wind status.
- Trying to visit Europa Point in Levante rain — it gets battered.
- Bringing an umbrella instead of a hooded waterproof.
